L.P. Murray & Sons was one of the first companies to offer blasting services in the State of Maine. Blasting began with the first generation when Leland “Big Jim” Murray introduced dynamite to the company in the 1940’s.
The company has continued to blast for its own site work packages to the present day. With a flawless reputation for safety and incredible results, L.P. Murray & Sons remains licensed both federally by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and by the State of Maine Fire Marshalls office.
In 2000, Leland “Skip” Murray expanded the ledge removal business to include rock hammers. The acquisition of rock hammers to our fleet of equipment has offered the customer an alternative to blasting. With rock hammers, we can remove ledge without the use of dynamite or the need for a preblast survey. This less invasive process has been extremely popular and can be used in almost any situation. We own both very large and extremely small excavators with rock hammers, allowing us access to almost any site.
We’ve been in business for four generations and more than 72 years. Our family company was started in 1946 by Leland “Big Jim” Murray. Early on the company specialized in earth work and blasting services (one of only two companies doing so in Maine). The company built a reputation for hard work and honesty.
