L.P. Murray & Sons prides itself on giving back to our community. We donate labor and materials to a number of local projects and organizations:

  • We invited the Cape Elizabeth elementary and middle school robotics club to visit Skip Murray at his gravel pit in Cape Elizabeth to learn about the mechanics and functions of large equipment.
  • Completed the Shore Road, Cape Elizabeth pathway project – a MDOT and Town of Cape Elizabeth project
  • Arboretum at Fort Williams — donated materials towards pathway
  • Conservation Commission, Town of Cape Elizabeth — donated thousands in trail work at Gull Crest and various labor and equipment at other sites around town to help build bridges
  • Gull Crest Trail System, Town of Cape Elizabeth – donated trail work, labor and materials
  • Cape Land Trust — Leadership Circle for donating money every year to aid in preservation of open space in Cape Elizabeth
  • Cape Elizabeth Educational Foundation — donated funds
  • Cape Elizabeth Sports Teams and Clubs — donated funds, sponsored events
  • Sponsored the Cape Strawberry Festival to support the Farm Alliance and the “Go Local” campaign
  • Member of the Better Business Bureau

We’ve been in business for four generations and more than 72 years. Our family company was started in 1946 by Leland “Big Jim” Murray. Early on the company specialized in earth work and blasting services (one of only two companies doing so in Maine). The company built a reputation for hard work and honesty.
